This is the municipality with the largest surface area on the Island, since it is home to most of the Teide National Park, considered a unique natural space in Spain, opening into the sea, through the valley of the same name.
The main economic activity is agriculture, employing a fifth of the active population, with three main crops, potatoes, bananas and vineyards.
The rest of its economic activities are based on the services sector, related mainly with tourism, commerce and construction.
